What is Hey Sini?
Hey Sini is a weekly social club for making friends as an adult in Melbourne. It seats five compatible people near each other at the same table, on the same night, every week for six weeks, and then the table becomes theirs. It is friendship-first, not a dating app, and it opens neighbourhood by neighbourhood, starting around Carlton.
THE SUBURB
The river promenade and the arts precinct are the public face: Hamer Hall on the water, the Arts Centre spire, the NGV over on St Kilda Road, the Melbourne Recital Centre and the theatres along Southbank Boulevard. Behind them rise some of the densest apartment towers in the country, filling with people who moved in for the location and arrived without a crew.
It is a suburb of performers, hospitality rosters and city workers home late: the University of Melbourne's Southbank campus (the VCA and the Conservatorium) sits on Sturt Street, and the precinct keeps half the suburb working nights. Flinders Street Station is a walk across Princes Bridge and the route 1 tram runs along Sturt Street, so a standing Southbank table is easy to keep whatever your hours.

Yes. You pick the one night your roster actually allows and we seat you with people who chose the same. Midweek nights are normal here, not the exception, and if your roster changes we reseat you on a night that fits.
At street level on the promenade, often. Above it live thousands of residents, most of them newer to Melbourne than they let on. A table gives five of them a standing local night back from the crowds.
