Make friends inCarlton.
THE INNER NORTH, RIGHT BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE · A WEEKLY TABLE OF FIVE · FRIENDSHIP-FIRST
Carlton is full of people who arrived for a degree and a share house and are quietly hoping the friends part sorts itself out. It usually does not, not on its own. Here is how a standing weekly table fits into a Carlton week.
What is Hey Sini?
Hey Sini
nounHey Sini is a weekly social club for making friends as an adult. It seats five compatible people near each other at the same table, on the same night, every week for six weeks, and then the table becomes theirs. It is friendship-first, not a dating app, and it opens neighbourhood by neighbourhood, starting around Carlton.
- Format
- one matched table of five
- Rhythm
- same night, every week · a six-week first cycle
- Where
- Melbourne · Jakarta
- Cost
- free to join · founding $19/mo
- Not
- a dating app, and not one-off meetups

THE SUBURB
Why a Carlton table.
Carlton runs on Lygon Street: the old Little Italy strip, the late-night gelato, the cafes that have poured coffee for three generations of students. The University of Melbourne sits right on its edge, RMIT is a short tram down, and the Carlton Gardens give the whole suburb a green middle.
All of which means Carlton is thick with people your age and thin on ways to see the same ones twice. The trams (1, 6 and 19 run straight through) make it one of the easiest suburbs in Melbourne to keep a standing table, because nobody has an excuse about getting there.
WHO IT IS FOR
Made for Carlton, specifically.
- New University of Melbourne or RMIT students
- Anyone who just moved into a Carlton or Parkville share house
- People tired of one-off society events that never repeat
- Workers near the city who want a local crew, not a commute home alone
- Anyone who finds Lygon Street lovelier with people to share it
HOW IT WORKS HERE
One match, then the same five, every week.
- Getting there
- Trams 1, 6 and 19 run down Lygon and Swanston; the University of Melbourne and RMIT are walking distance.

- The rhythm
- Five compatible people near you, the same night, every week for six weeks. We re-seat you if it is not right.
- The cost
- Free to join. A founding seat is $19/mo, locked for life (it is $22/mo after). You pay your own bill at the table.
A Carlton table tends to land somewhere on or just off Lygon Street: a quiet trattoria, a long cafe table, a wine bar down a side street. We suggest the spot via Google Maps and the table confirms it together. We never book it or take a cut.
CARLTON QUESTIONS
Before you sit down.
Is Hey Sini good for University of Melbourne students?
It is one of the best fits there is. Carlton is the university's backyard, so a Carlton table is usually a short walk or one tram from campus, and you are seated with four people nearby on a night you can keep around classes.
When does a Carlton table start?
Carlton is our first Melbourne neighbourhood, so it fills fastest. A table opens the moment there are enough compatible people nearby on a shared night. Sign up with Carlton as your area and you are in the first group seated.
