THE INNER NORTH, MELBOURNE'S CREATIVE CORNER · A WEEKLY TABLE OF FIVE · FRIENDSHIP-FIRST
Fitzroy is the suburb people move to for the bars, the records and the Sunday markets, then realise they are doing all of it solo. A weekly table is the boring fix the postcard never mentions.
What is Hey Sini?
Hey Sini
nounHey Sini is a weekly social club for making friends as an adult. It seats five compatible people near each other at the same table, on the same night, every week for six weeks, and then the table becomes theirs. It is friendship-first, not a dating app, and it opens neighbourhood by neighbourhood, starting around Carlton.

- Rhythm

THE SUBURB
Why a Fitzroy table.
Brunswick Street and Gertrude Street are the spine: bookshops, bars, the Rose Street Artists' Market on weekends, a gig most nights if you go looking. Edinburgh Gardens up the top is where the suburb spills out when the sun is.
It is one of the most social-looking suburbs in Melbourne, which is exactly why the loneliness sneaks up: everyone seems to already have their people. The 11 and 96 trams put the whole strip a few minutes from the city, so a standing Fitzroy table is an easy one to keep.
WHO IT IS FOR
Made for Fitzroy, specifically.
- People who moved to Fitzroy for the scene and stayed for the rent
- Creatives, makers and late starters who work odd hours
- Anyone who has done the bars and the gigs alone one too many times
- New arrivals who want a crew without dating-app energy
- Regulars who want the same faces, not a new crowd every weekend
HOW IT WORKS HERE
One match, then the same five, every week.
- Getting there
- Trams 11 (Brunswick Street) and 96 (Nicholson Street) run to the city in minutes; Gertrude Street links you to Collingwood and Carlton.
- Nearby study
- A short tram to RMIT and the University of Melbourne
- The rhythm
- Five compatible people near you, the same night, every week for six weeks. We re-seat you if it is not right.
- The cost
- Free to join. A founding seat is $19/mo, locked for life (it is $22/mo after). You pay your own bill at the table.
A Fitzroy table usually lands on or near Brunswick or Gertrude Street: a wine bar, a long-table eatery, a cafe that does not rush you. We suggest the place via Google Maps; the five of you confirm it. We never book it or take venue money.
FITZROY QUESTIONS
Before you sit down.
Is Hey Sini a dating app for Fitzroy?
No. It starts with friendship: the same five at the same table every week. Fitzroy has plenty of ways to meet someone once; this is the thing that turns a nice first night into an actual crew.
