Why a SCBD table.
The Sudirman Central Business District packs the stock exchange, Pacific Place, Ashta District 8 and a skyline of head offices into a few genuinely walkable blocks, then rings them with some of the best eating and drinking in Jakarta. On Sunday mornings the whole thing empties into car-free day on Jl. Sudirman next door.
The 'anak SCBD' joke exists because the district has a whole identity and almost no way in: everyone is five metres from a thousand colleagues and nowhere near five friends. The Istora Mandiri MRT stop and the Corridor 1 TransJakarta down Sudirman mean a weekly table here survives even the worst macet.
