SOUTH JAKARTA & SCBD · A WEEKLY TABLE OF FIVE · FRIENDSHIP-FIRST
Pasar Santa proved Jakarta will happily sit at a communal table if you give it a reason. The market supplied coffee and vinyl; a standing table supplies the harder part, the same five people every week.

It seats five compatible people near each other at the same table, on the same night, every week for six weeks, and then the table becomes theirs. It is friendship-first, not a dating app, and it opens neighbourhood by neighbourhood, starting around Senopati.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Why a Pasar Santa table.
Downstairs it is still a proper market: vegetables, gold shops, tailors who have been there forever. Upstairs, since the coffee-and-vinyl wave of the mid-2010s, it has been one of Jakarta's favourite places to linger: espresso counters, record crates, food stalls the size of a desk. It sits on Jl. Cipaku in Kebayoran Baru, a few minutes from the Senopati and Gunawarman strips.
The catch with a place this easy to sit in: everyone arrives with the friends they already have. A standing table of five fixes the part the market cannot.
WHO IT IS FOR
Made for Pasar Santa, specifically.
- First-jobbers around Senopati who want a weeknight that is not overtime
- Coffee people who always sit at Santa alone with a laptop
- Anyone new to Kebayoran Baru who knows the stalls but none of the faces
HOW IT WORKS HERE
One match, then the same five, every week.
- Getting there
- Pasar Santa is a short ojek ride from the Blok M end of the MRT, just off Jl. Wolter Monginsidi.
- The rhythm
- Five compatible people near you, the same night, every week for six weeks. We re-seat you if it is not right.
- The cost
- Free to join. A founding seat is Rp 49rb/mo, locked for life. You pay your own bill at the table.
A Pasar Santa table lands naturally in the market itself, upstairs among the coffee counters, or out on the Senopati and Gunawarman strips nearby. We suggest the spot via Google Maps, the five of you confirm it, and we never book it or take venue money.
PASAR SANTA QUESTIONS
Before you sit down.
Does the table actually meet inside Pasar Santa?
Often, yes: the upstairs food floor is built for exactly this, a long sit over cheap good food. Some weeks the five of you will pick a spot on Senopati instead. The table decides; we only suggest. A Pasar Santa table opens as enough people nearby sign up.
