It seats five compatible people near each other at the same table, on the same night, every week for six weeks, and then the table becomes theirs. THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Why a Pluit table.
Pluit is North Jakarta on the water: the reservoir and its park in the middle, Pluit Village and Emporium for the air-con hours, and eateries that families have argued about for generations. Jl. Pluit Selatan Raya carries most of it, with Muara Karang right next door.
It is a neighbourhood people grow up in and come back to, which makes it oddly hard to break into as an adult. A standing table skips the years of warming up.
